Terms & Conditions

Spektra Motors

Last Updated: July 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Spektra Motors ("we", "our", "us"). By booking an appointment, requesting a quotation, authorising work, or using our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. Scope of Services
Spektra Motors provides vehicle diagnostics, inspections, fault finding, maintenance and repair services for a wide range of passenger vehicles.
Our business is built around a diagnostic-led approach to vehicle repair. We aim to identify the root cause of faults before recommending repairs. Depending on the complexity of the fault, additional testing, dismantling or staged investigation may be required before a definitive diagnosis can be reached.
Workshop services are available by appointment only. Selected services may also be carried out on a mobile basis where suitable working conditions exist.

2. Appointments
Workshop visits are strictly by appointment.
Appointments may be rescheduled due to technician availability, equipment availability, supplier delays, weather conditions or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Customers should provide accurate vehicle details and contact information when booking.

3. Diagnostics
Vehicle diagnostics are an investigative process intended to identify faults and determine the most likely root cause using the information available at the time of inspection.
An initial diagnostic assessment does not guarantee that every fault present within a vehicle will be identified.
Further testing, dismantling or specialist investigation may be required before a definitive diagnosis can be confirmed.
Diagnostic reports represent professional findings based on the information available during inspection and should not be interpreted as confirmation that no additional faults exist.
Diagnostic charges cover technician time, specialist equipment, technical expertise and reporting and remain payable regardless of whether repair work is authorised or the reported fault is ultimately repaired.
During diagnostic procedures, specialist diagnostic equipment may communicate with vehicle electronic control units and temporarily store diagnostic information for reporting, technical reference and quality assurance purposes.
Some faults may require multiple stages of diagnosis, monitoring over time or repeat inspections before the root cause can be confirmed. The time required for diagnosis will vary depending on the nature and complexity of the fault and cannot always be predicted in advance.

4. Estimates & Quotations
All estimates and quotations are based upon the information available at the time.
Additional faults or damage discovered during inspection or repair may require further work and may affect the original quotation.
No additional chargeable work will be undertaken without customer approval.
Estimated completion times are provided for guidance only and cannot be guaranteed.

5. Repairs
Repairs are carried out using reasonable care and skill.
Equivalent quality replacement parts may be used unless Genuine OEM parts have been specifically requested or agreed.
Repair completion dates may vary due to parts availability, supplier delays or the complexity of the work.
Where a repair cannot reasonably be completed without first confirming the root cause of a fault, additional diagnostic work may be recommended before repairs proceed.

6. Existing Faults & Hidden Defects
Vehicle faults may be influenced by previous repairs, accident damage, corrosion, wear and tear, aftermarket modifications, software changes or other pre-existing conditions.
Certain faults cannot reasonably be identified until components are dismantled or removed.
Where additional faults are identified during repair, customers will be informed before further chargeable work is undertaken.

7. Mobile Services
Selected services may be provided at the customer's location where suitable access, lighting and safe working conditions are available.
Spektra Motors reserves the right to decline, postpone or discontinue mobile work where:

  • safe working conditions do not exist;

  • suitable access is unavailable;

  • weather conditions prevent safe operation;

  • specialist workshop equipment is required;

  • the requested work falls outside the agreed scope of mobile services.

Certain repairs may only be completed within workshop facilities.

8. Customer Responsibilities
Customers confirm they are the legal owner of the vehicle or have authority to authorise work.
Customers are responsible for providing accurate information regarding:

  • vehicle faults;

  • previous repairs;

  • warning messages;

  • accident history;

  • software modifications;

  • aftermarket accessories; and

  • any other information reasonably relevant to diagnosis or repair.

Failure to provide relevant information may affect diagnostic accuracy, repair outcomes or repair times.

9. Customer Authorisation
By authorising work, customers confirm they accept responsibility for payment of the agreed services.
Customer authorisation may be provided:

  • in person;

  • by signed document;

  • by email;

  • by SMS; or

  • through written messaging services such as WhatsApp.

Where additional work becomes necessary, Spektra Motors may request written approval before proceeding. Telephone discussions may be followed by written confirmation for record-keeping purposes.

10. Customer-Supplied Parts
Where customers request installation of parts supplied by themselves or third parties, Spektra Motors accepts no responsibility for:

  • part quality;

  • compatibility;

  • manufacturer defects;

  • performance; or

  • warranty relating to those parts.

Additional labour resulting from defective or incompatible parts may be chargeable.

11. Vehicle Electronics & Software
Modern vehicles contain complex electronic control systems and software.
Diagnostic procedures, battery disconnection, module programming or repair procedures may require system resets, recalibration or manufacturer software updates.
Spektra Motors cannot be held responsible for pre-existing software faults, manufacturer software limitations or unrelated electronic failures discovered during diagnostic or repair procedures.

12. Road Testing
Where necessary, customers authorise Spektra Motors to road test the vehicle before, during or after repair for diagnostic, calibration, verification and quality control purposes.
Reasonable care will be taken whilst operating customer vehicles.

13. Vehicle Storage & Collection
Reasonable care will be taken whilst vehicles are in our possession.
Customers are advised not to leave cash, valuables, tools, personal belongings or important documents inside the vehicle. Spektra Motors accepts no responsibility for personal property left within the vehicle.
Customers should collect vehicles promptly once notified that work has been completed.
Reasonable storage charges may apply where vehicles remain uncollected without prior agreement.

14. Vehicle Information & Service Records
During diagnostics, inspections and repairs we may record:

  • vehicle registration;

  • VIN;

  • make and model;

  • mileage;

  • fault codes;

  • inspection findings;

  • diagnostic reports;

  • repair history;

  • photographs; and

  • technical notes.

Photographs may be taken to document vehicle condition, damaged components, diagnostic findings or repair progress. These images may form part of the service record and may be used to support warranty claims or resolve disputes.
Personal information is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

15. Vehicle Photography
We may take photographs or videos of vehicles during inspection, diagnosis, servicing or repair for quality assurance, technical documentation, staff training and marketing purposes.
Where images or videos are used for marketing, reasonable steps will be taken to remove or obscure identifying information, including vehicle registration numbers, VINs, personal belongings and other identifying details where appropriate.
We will not intentionally identify the vehicle owner without their consent.
If a vehicle is readily identifiable due to its rarity, distinctive appearance, personalised registration or other unique characteristics, we will seek the owner's permission before using any images or videos for marketing purposes.
Customers may request that no marketing photographs or videos are taken or published by notifying us before work begins.
Images used for marketing will never intentionally disclose customer identity or personal information.

16. Payment
Payment is due immediately upon completion of the agreed work unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Accepted payment methods include:

  • Bank Transfer;

  • Debit Card;

  • Credit Card;

  • Contactless Payment (including Apple Pay and Google Pay); and

  • Cash.

For certain services or higher-value transactions, Spektra Motors reserves the right to specify the required method of payment, including payment by bank transfer only. Any such requirement will be communicated to the customer before work is carried out.
Diagnostic fees remain payable even where the customer decides not to proceed with recommended repairs.
Where permitted by law, Spektra Motors reserves the right to retain possession of a vehicle until all outstanding invoices have been settled.

17. Warranty
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all workmanship is covered in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and any other applicable consumer legislation.
Where replacement parts are supplied by Spektra Motors, any manufacturer's warranty applicable to those parts shall apply in addition to your statutory rights.
The warranty does not cover:

  • normal wear and tear;

  • consumable items;

  • customer-supplied parts;

  • manufacturer defects;

  • pre-existing faults;

  • unrelated component failures;

  • accidental damage;

  • misuse, neglect or improper maintenance;

  • faults caused by subsequent modifications or repairs carried out by third parties;

  • transport, towing, recovery, collection, delivery or mobile call-out charges required to return the vehicle for warranty inspection unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Customers must notify Spektra Motors as soon as reasonably practicable after discovering a potential warranty issue and allow us a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle before any third-party repairs are authorised.
Repairs carried out by third parties without our prior written agreement may invalidate any workmanship warranty.
Completion of one repair does not guarantee the future reliability of unrelated vehicle systems or components. Warranty claims do not extend the original warranty period unless required by applicable law.

18. Right to Refuse Service
Spektra Motors reserves the right to refuse, suspend or discontinue work where:

  • requested work is considered unsafe or unlawful;

  • repairs fall outside our technical capability or available equipment;

  • the vehicle presents an unacceptable health or safety risk;

  • suitable working conditions are unavailable;

  • abusive, aggressive, threatening or discriminatory behaviour is directed towards staff;

  • payment terms cannot be agreed; or

  • previous invoices remain unpaid.

Where work has already commenced, customers remain responsible for payment of work completed up to the point services are discontinued.

19. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Spektra Motors shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses including, but not limited to, loss of earnings, business interruption, vehicle hire costs, travel expenses or loss of use arising from vehicle faults, repair delays, parts availability or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
Nothing within these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

20. Force Majeure
Spektra Motors shall not be responsible for delays or failure to perform services resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, flooding, fire, power failure, supplier delays, equipment failure, industrial action or government restrictions.

21. Uncollected Vehicles & Outstanding Payments
Spektra Motors reserves all legal rights available in relation to unpaid invoices and vehicles left uncollected.
Where applicable, action may be taken in accordance with the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 and any other applicable legislation after appropriate written notice has been provided.
Storage charges may continue to accrue until the vehicle is collected or otherwise dealt with in accordance with applicable law.

22. Specialist Services & Subcontracting
Spektra Motors reserves the right to engage qualified subcontractors, specialist engineers or third-party service providers where necessary to complete diagnostic, testing, maintenance or repair work.
The use of specialist subcontractors shall not affect the customer's contractual relationship with Spektra Motors.

23. Removed Parts
Many garages include this.

Unless otherwise requested before work begins, removed or replaced parts may be retained by Spektra Motors for warranty, quality control or environmental disposal purposes. Customers wishing to inspect or retain replaced parts should notify us before completion of the repair.

24. Complaints & Dispute Resolution
Should a customer have any concerns regarding our services, we encourage them to contact us first so that we have the opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.
If a dispute cannot be resolved directly, customers may seek independent advice or use any dispute resolution process available under applicable UK consumer legislation.

25. Changes to These Terms
Spektra Motors reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions from time to time.
The version published on our website at the time an appointment is booked or work is authorised shall apply.

26. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
